EVO oil: a family matter for generations
There are three words that have guided our work for almost 50 years: family, authenticity and love for the territory. The Ciriello family has a deep bond with the hills of the Alta Murgia of Bari, with its caves, the transhumance jazz, its culture and its history. And it is precisely in this land that the highest quality olive oil has been produced for generations.
THE STORY OF A PASSION
LELLO AND PEPPINO
The first generation
The “Frantoio Ciriello” agricultural company was born in 1975 from the love for their olive trees and the passion for oil of two brothers, Raffaele, known as Lello, Ciriello and Giuseppe, known as Peppino, Ciriello.
Their 50 hectares of olive trees extend across the Murge plateau, between Cassano delle Murge, Grumo Appula and Sannicandro: what is produced from their trees arrives in their oil mill, which slowly becomes a point of reference for the area.
Here the oil is produced with the ancient mills, the millstones with stone wheels and following the traditional method in a rigorous and authentic way.
GIOVANNI, ADRIANO AND FILIPPO
THE SECOND GENERATION
First Filippo, then Giovanni, then Adriano. Lello Ciriello’s three sons approach one after the other to their father and uncle Peppino’s olive trees, with initially disenchanted eyes and wearing white coats that are too large, to lend a hand with the olive trolleys or in the oil mill.
A passion that was born as a game and that grows over the years, taking three different paths, which aim at the same goal.
Adriano, the youngest, loves to dedicate himself to his olive trees and the farm fields; Giovanni manages the oil mill and makes ends meet for the small family business, while Filippo gives life to Agriturismo Ciriè.
Here lies the dream of the second Ciriello generation: to create a small world around their olive trees, which speaks of family, authenticity and love for the territory.
the agricultural company
Frantoio Ciriello produces Classic and Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil from its 50 hectares of olive trees: the prevalent cultivar is Coratina, with its unmistakable bitter-spicy taste. To a lesser extent, but still present, the cultivars Peranzana, Leccino, Ogliarola barese, Carolea and Provenzale also grow. The farm also deals with the cultivation and production of other excellent local products such as Toritto almonds and Bari table olives of the “Termite di Bitetto” DOP variety.
our oil mill
The Ciriello family’s oil mill is the guardian of knowledge and stories that are not very distant, but certainly fascinating and worth preserving. In 1975 Lello and Peppino Ciriello produced their oil following the traditional method, but with the arrival of the second generation, the evolving dreams and needs of the sector contributed to the advent of the modern method, with cold extraction using the continuous cycle and same-day pressing of the harvested olives. The tradition goes to rest, however in favor of better quality and conservation of the oil, for the happiness of consumers and admirers of Ciriello oil.
